The Purvis Law Firm is a boutique law firm that specializes in marketing law, the creation of content for marketing campaigns, and the licensing of various intellectual property rights. For marketing campaigns, we offer representation to marketing agencies, brands and creators, and assist our clients in developing and implementing marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns and events throughout the United States and internationally. The firm has worked on thousands of marketing and promotional campaigns conducted by many of the most prominent companies in the United States, including The Walt Disney Company, Viacom, Anheuser-Busch, Hardrock Café, Universal Studios, Amgen, Live Nation and Toyota, along with other major multinational companies. The firm also represents creators of all sorts (influencers, actors, musicians, non-traditional talent, inventors, entrepreneurs, etc.) and the agencies and management companies who represent them. It has a particular expertise in social media marketing and promotions, and in the critical business and legal relationships between brands, marketing agencies and creators. The firm has also negotiated sports merchandise license agreements with major sports organizations such as MLB, the MLB Players Association, the NHL and the NHL Players Association, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

MICHAEL PURVIS
Managing Director
The Purvis Law Firm was founded by Michael C. Purvis, who now serves as its Managing Director. Mr. Purvis has over 30 years of experience as an attorney and business advisor. He has served as in-house counsel for major multi-national corporations including The Walt Disney Company, Viacom, and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (the fourth largest toy company in the U.S.). He also served in-house as a VP of Legal & Business Affairs for Red Peak Group (now Sid Lee USA), a major marketing and promotions agency, for over 10 years. He has extensive experience in marketing and promotions law, social media marketing, intellectual property law, and the acquisition and licensing of rights, and has experience as both a litigator and transactional attorney. While counseling many of the largest companies in the United States, as well as major ad and marketing agencies, he has played a critical role in the development and implementation of thousands of marketing and promotional campaigns. He also has extensive experience in consumer products and the toy industry.
Mr. Purvis also currently serves as the Managing Director of Global Rights Management, an intangible assets management company that brokers, manages, trades and enforces a wide range of intangible assets and intellectual property rights, including but not limited to patents, trademarks, copyrights, celebrity rights, product rights, and financial rights.
He resides in Santa Barbara, California along with his wife and two children, where he is an active member of the community. His educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!), a M.A. in Communications from the University of New Orleans, and a J.D. Cum Laude, from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. He is admitted to practice law in the State of California, District of Columbia (inactive), U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit, and U.S. District Court, Central District, CA.
